We (rightly) focus on our tithes and offerings, the portion of our blessings we return to God. But it’s easy to overlook that 100% of what we have comes from Him. This sign that you see at the left and around the church is symbolic of a commitment many of us in the church have made. We’re taking a portion of our economic stimulus package checks from the IRS and returning it to God. It’s not about raising money…it’s about showing God that we recognize the fullness of His grace. Won’t you participate? Mark your checks “IAB Fund”. Watch for a report soon on how it’s building up! A special thank you to all who shared food, cards and prayers with our
family after the loss of my mother, Lucille Culver.

Have you ever wondered what the Walk to Emmaus experience was all about? Has someone in our Church approached you about attending Emmaus and you were hesitant to respond to them because you didn’t want to get into anything that was unknown to you? Isn’t this some kind of strange Christian organization that uses funny nametags, does a lot of hugging, and meets in secret, and acts holier than you?
Well if you have ever wondered you can now get your questions answered in a friendly environment. The 4th Dayers (we call ourselves that as an Emmaus Walk is 3 days long and the next day is the 4th day of the rest of our lives), of the FUMC Lindale are sponsoring a meeting (we call it a Gathering) for our Church to allow you to meet Church members who are part of the Emmaus Community and to ask your questions about Emmaus. Did you know there are 63 members of our Church that are on their 4th day? And we’re hoping that most of them will be there to tell you about their experiences.
The Gathering will be on Saturday July 26 at our Church. We will start with pot luck supper at 6PM followed by an informational meeting/worship service at approx 7PM. All members of our Church and community are invited to attend. We want to extend an invitation to you and your family to be there. We will provide childcare. Won’t you come and celebrate with us, and get your questions answered? There just might be something there that you have been looking for.
Please feel free to call any of us with any questions you might have.

Handbell Alert

The problem: The middle octave of our handbells is the oldest. The company that made them is no longer in business so replacement by that company is out of the question and repairs by any other company are difficult.
The question: do we want to continue to have a handbell ministry? Is it worth it to buy a middle octave of bells (approximate cost $2000) if there are not enough people interested in playing?
The solution: Help from you, the congregation, and from former and present ringers. If this is an area of interest for you, please fill out the form and return it to the church office or to Sylvia Gossett. Thanks in advance for your attention to this.

Faith and Facts @ First

Once a quarter, we enjoy an ‘open’ class on Methodism. Wayne Flowers & Bryan Brown lead and we meet in Room 1016 (UMW Room) during the Sunday School hour on June 29.
Whether you are a very new guest in worship, or a life-long member, this time together opens new doors for all of us.
This quarter, we offer a ‘question and answer’ session. Missions, beliefs, organization history, policies or just anything on your curiosity list is a good question for this hour.
If you wonder, someone else does too! Join us. June 29 @9:30 a.m.
