WHAT IS THE SOCIETY OF ST. STEPHEN MINISTRY?
It is First United Methodist church Lindale's agency for benevolences and assistance,
associated with the St. Stephen Society of the Texas Annual Conference.

There are sixty-five plus volunteers actively involved in the various agencies. The board meets monthly and coordinates the activities and support of the following agencies:

We Care Thrift Shop - 207 South Henry Street

The We Care Thrift Shop is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00am until 4:00pm. It is located at the corner of Henry and South Street. Merchandise is reasonably priced. Volunteers work Monday through Thursday from 8:30am until 10:30am cleaning and sorting the clothes and merchandise which is donated daily.

Health Support
Wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, shower and potty chairs are housed at the storage facilities
of We Care and are loaned to those church family members in need.

Dr. David Powell Food Pantry 207 South Henry Street - North entrance

The Dr. David Powell Food Pantry is open from 9:00am to 12:00 noon on the first and third Tuesday and the first and third Wednesday each month. It is also open for several hours in the evening of the second Tuesday of each month. It is currently located behind the We Care Thrift Shop.

This ministry is reaching out to more than 200 families, all of whom live within the geographical bounds of the Lindale Independent School District.

The Food Pantry is coordinated with the Regional East Texas Food Bank in Tyler, of which we are a member. Volunteers work at the ETFB of Tyler to earn credits which are used to purchase food for the pantry. Food drives furnish additional supplies for the pantry, but the majority of the food is obtained from the ETFB for shared maintenance costs.

Doris Davis Guest House 207 South Henry Street - South entrance

The Doris Davis Guest House is for those who have emergencies and to transients who have immediate need for it. It is usually available for one night only and is coordinated through the Lindale Police Department. It is part of the We Care Thrift Shop facility.
